Yearly Events Summary
CHAPTER EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
The following is a description of some of the musical and educational events we sponsor for our members, our students and our local community
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month September through May, except for March (due to adjudications) and offer a chance to network with other music teachers and to learn from each other. A guest speaker or special program is a feature of our meetings, followed by refreshments and a short business meeting.
Adjudications are currently offered for piano students and are usually held in March. Students perform two pieces in contrasting style from memory and receive a written evaluation and interactive feedback from an experienced adjudicator. Every student who participates receives a certificate.
This is an opportunity for students to work with a highly trained and respected professional performer and teacher. Master Lessons are usually scheduled in January - student pieces must usually be from upper level standard repertoire.
Student Dessert Recital Fundraiser
Usually held in mid-May, this student recital helps our chapter raise funds for our graduating senior scholarships. Teachers provide the delectable desserts and other finger foods and their students of all ages are encouraged to perform a piece. There is a small fee for guests to enjoy dessert and the wonderful musical entertainment.
Fall Music Fest
This music festival is a community outreach event for students in grades K-8. A variety of hands-on activities are provided such as music theory games, Boom-whackers and other fun instruments, a composer corner, music history, performances, dress-up costumes, face painting, and much more.
Conference Recital Competition (CRC)
Upper level piano students compete for the chance to perform for the State Honors Recital at the WSMTA Conference. CRC is usually held in early to mid-March.
Benefit Fundraiser Recitals
Benefit recitals provide us with the opportunity to raise funds for student awards and scholarships. These recitals feature guest performers from around the Northwest as well as our own students.
Senior Music Merit, Accompanist and Church Musician Awards
Each year our chapter honors our graduating seniors and students who have served as accompanists and church musicians.
